    FAQ

How long does the process take?

The process of obtaining medical licensure (Approbation) can take several months, as it depends on the responsible authorities and is beyond both your and our control.

Additionally, organizing your position at a clinic requires various administrative steps, such as drafting your employment contract and coordinating your start date. These processes can also be time-consuming.

To give you a clearer overview, we’ve outlined the individual steps of the licensure process along with their estimated durations:

Preparation for General and Medical German:
The duration of your preparation largely depends on your personal starting point and learning progress. For quality preparation, you should plan at least 3 months per language level:

    • A1 – A2: 60–100 learning hours
    • A2 – B1: 60–100 learning hours
    • B1 – B2: 200–300 learning hours
    • B2 – C1: 150–200 learning hours
    • C1 – Medical German: 150–200 learning hours

Learning hours include self-study, group lessons, one-on-one sessions, or learning tandems. Overall, we recommend approximately 3–4 months per language level. A clear structure and discipline are crucial.

Preparation, Translation, and Certification of Documents (for Licensure):
This step typically takes 2–6 weeks. In some federal states, documents can be submitted before your official graduation to save time.

Scheduling the Medical Terminology Exam (FSP):
Depending on the federal state, the waiting time after submitting your documents is 3–6 months. In some states, the exam can also be taken before graduation to speed up the process.

    Receiving Licensure (Approbation):
Typically takes about 2 months after successfully passing the medical terminology exam.

    Job Interviews:
These are scheduled after the medical terminology exam (though we often organize them during the waiting period for licensure to save time). This allows you to quickly find a suitable position without losing valuable time.

    Finding Housing:
Depending on the city, this process usually takes about 1–2 months after interviews and selecting a position.

    Start of Employment:
Generally, 1–3 months after interviews, depending on the clinic’s internal organization and housing arrangements.

These processes are complex and require careful planning and expertise. Our team provides you with professional support throughout the entire process. We closely monitor your timeline and keep you informed about the next steps to avoid delays and make the process as smooth as possible. Your success is our top priority, and we use our expertise to guide you efficiently through these procedures.

What costs are covered by the inmed scholarship?

The inmed scholarship covers the following costs:

    • Expenses for your language preparation with our teachers, including group and individual lessons for the B2 exam and the Medical Terminology Exam (FSP).
    • Fees related to licensing: translation and certification of documents, as well as official application fees and postage costs.
    • Travel and accommodation expenses for your FSP exam and job interviews in Germany.

With our scholarship, you can fully focus on your professional and personal development, as we take care of all financial and administrative hurdles for you.

Do I have to pay anything to inmed? Do I have to reimburse costs? Are there deductions from my salary?

We receive our commission from the clinic where you start your job. This allows us to “share” this commission with you. For you, everything is free of charge.

We receive the first part of the commission from the clinic when you start your job. The remainder is paid to us six months after your employment begins, provided the employment contract is not terminated by either you or the clinic (this is known as the probationary period).

If everything goes according to plan and agreement, you do not owe us any reimbursement for the costs and services we have covered.

The only cases in which reimbursement is required are as follows:

    • If placement through us does not occur, regardless of the reasons.
    • If you do not pass the probationary period (6 months) at the clinic and no new placement is arranged through us.

In these cases, only the following costs will need to be reimbursed:

    • Fees for the B2 and FSP exams
    • Travel and accommodation costs for the FSP exam and job interviews in Germany
    • Costs related to obtaining licensure (translations, legalizations, postage, state fees, etc.)

Language courses remain entirely our responsibility, and you will not need to pay for them under any circumstances.

What happens if I fail the B2 or FSP exam?

Both exams can be retaken as many times as needed until passed. However, it’s important to note that we can only proceed with the next steps in the process once you have passed the respective exam—first B2 and then FSP. Our scholarship covers only the first attempt for each of the two exams.

In the case of an unsuccessful first attempt, we can financially support you by advancing the fees for additional attempts (as well as travel and accommodation costs for the FSP). These costs, however, must be reimbursed by you once you start working in Germany.

It’s also worth mentioning that the success rate with our language training is very high, and most of our clients pass the exam on their first attempt.

How long will I be bound by an inmed contract?

Until the end of the sixth month after starting your job in Germany, provided you pass the probationary period. After that, you are no longer contractually bound to us, but we are still happy to assist you with any questions or further placements.

Am I obligated to stay at the clinic during the probationary period if I don’t like it there?

No. If you are not comfortable at the workplace we arranged for you, you can contact us at any time. Together, we will analyze the problem and find the best solution. If it is impossible for you to stay at the clinic, we will work together to find a new position. It is important to us that you always reach out to us first if any issues arise.

Am I allowed to search for a job on my own or through another agency during the process?

No. Our collaboration requires a high level of mutual trust.

We invest a significant amount of time, energy, and financial resources in preparing each of our clients. Therefore, we rely on being able to trust you to honor our agreement and seek and accept employment only with our assistance.
